Master of Arts Degree
Biola’s Christian Apologetics Program is proud to offer two fully accredited M.A. degrees that have been ranked as number one in the nation (cite). Both M.A.s have a well-established distance program, providing flexible and accessible education created to accommodate the working individual. Our M.A. programs are taught by leading Apologists such as William Lane Craig, JP Moreland, Craig Hanzen, and Sean McDowell, to name a few. Both programs consist of 36 units of coursework and have overlapping bible and theology courses, although the majority of the courses are distinct between the two degrees. Join our world renowned program as you begin to build a personal, intellectual framework with which you can engage the current conversation of Apologetics today.
Offered in either on-campus or distance style formats, our M.A. in Christian Apologetics is the larger and more flexible of our degrees. An MACA student may take any of the Science and Religion courses as electives, allowing for increased flexibility of both schedule and class variety. The MACA is unique in its emphasis on the philosophical and theological roots of Apologetics, focusing on topics such as the resurrection, ethic, morality, the problem of evil, and Christianity in a world of religions.
Our M.A. in Science and Religion is a highly specialized M.A. offered exclusively in the distance learning format. The distance learning format consists almost entirely of online class work. However, the lecture portion of this degree is competed through two summer residency requirements, each two weeks long, held on Biola’s Southern California campus. The MASR in uniquely geared towards the interplay of science and religion as it draws from perennial arguments dealing with the metaphysical origins of the universe and the existence of God
